This lesson will explore the details of the Native slave trade during the Gold Rush. This is the second, of a two-part lesson. Students will analyze artwork of Native Americans working alongside whites to mine for Gold. This will lead to a discussion about how portrayals of this time in artwork can be misleading. Student will understand the connection between the Gold Rush and the Native Slave Trade, and uncover the details of this slave trade.
