Final Project Materials

In this final assessment students will combine skills of creating a historical narrative, historical argument, and a creative element to create a product that tells the story of an individual at the #NoDAPL protests.

This assessment was inspired by Lauren Redniss’s book, Oak Flatwhich combines illustration and narrative to tell the story of two families protecting the Oak Flats. While students will not be creating as in-depth a product, sample pages from the book might prove useful for students.

Essentially, the assessment involves 3 components: 1. original illustration, collage, or digital artwork; 2. a 3-4 paragraph historical narrative told from an individual involved with the NoDAPL movement; and 3. an analysis worksheet.
